The 2017 edition is taking place on Saturday, January 28, 2017, in the at the Richard J. Currie Center, on the University of New Brunswick campus.
The schedule is:
9:00 a.m. - JV Girls
11:00 a.m. - JV Boys
1:00 p.m. - Varsity Girls
3:00 p.m. - Varsity Boys
In case of inclement
weather, the storm date will be Sunday, January 29. A decision will be made the week of the event.
The $5.00
admission will get you into all four games. There will also be draws for door
prizes, along with 50/50 draws. All proceeds from the game will go to the Mike
Fitzgerald Memorial Fund.
The Mike
Fitzgerald Memorial Fund is named in honor of Mike Fitzgerald, who played
basketball for both high schools in the city, and lost his battle with brain
cancer in 2008. Administered by the Fredericton Community Foundation, the fund
was set up as a way to pay back the support that the Fitzgerald family received
during Mike’s illness. Each year the fund distributes bursary and scholarship
funds to support deserving students at both Leo Hayes and Fredericton High. The Fund has also helped some young
basketball players with registration and provincial team expenses when
financial support is needed.
