2019 Mike Fitz Games

The 2019 edition is taking place on Saturday, January 26, 2019.

This year the games will take place at Leo Hayes High School

The schedule is:

12:00 p.m. - JV Girls

2:00 p.m. - JV Boys

4:00 p.m. - Varsity Girls

6:00 p.m. - Varsity Boys

In case of inclement weather, the storm date will be Sunday, January 27. A decision will be made the week of the event. 

The $5.00 admission will get you into all four games. All proceeds from the game will go to the Mike Fitzgerald Memorial Fund, which awards scholarships and bursaries to deserving high school graduates to assist with their post-secondary education.

The Mike Fitzgerald Memorial Fund is named in honor of Mike Fitzgerald, who played basketball for both high schools in the city and lost his battle with brain cancer in 2008.

Administered by the Fredericton Community Foundation, the fund was set up to repay the support that the Fitzgerald family received during Mike’s illness. Each year the fund distributes bursary and scholarship funds to support deserving students at both Leo Hayes and Fredericton High.  The Fund has also helped some young basketball players with registration and provincial team expenses when financial support is needed.

The 10th Annual Mike Fitz Games are here!

The 2018 edition is taking place on Saturday, January 27, 2017.

Since this is the 10^th anniversary we have decided to hold the games back where it began in 2008 – Fredericton High School.

The schedule is:

1:00 p.m. - JV Girls

3:00 p.m. - JV Boys

5:00 p.m. - Varsity Girls

7:00 p.m. - Varsity Boys

The 2017 edition is taking place on Saturday, January 28, 2017, in the at the Richard J. Currie Center, on the University of New Brunswick campus.

The schedule is:

9:00 a.m. - JV Girls

11:00 a.m. - JV Boys

1:00 p.m. - Varsity Girls

3:00 p.m. - Varsity Boys

In case of inclement weather, the storm date will be Sunday, January 29. A decision will be made the week of the event. 

The $5.00 admission will get you into all four games. There will also be draws for door prizes, along with 50/50 draws. All proceeds from the game will go to the Mike Fitzgerald Memorial Fund.
